The WSF is a platform which brings together various voices for the same ideal. This ideal is to create a world where everyone can benefit from and have access to the fruits of the earth, whether they be natural, mined or hydric resources.
I think the WSF is also a chance to raise awareness about what is happening in our country, the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is rich in natural resources, but paradoxically poor considering its low position in the Human Development Index. It is a country where most people live on less than 20 US cents a day.
I’m here to hear about other people’s experience and to share with them the reality of life in Congo so that we can find solutions together and make partnerships. I’m expecting a lot from this forum, and I think it will be a very enriching experience.
Publish What You Pay (PWYP) is a global civil society coalition that helps citizens of resource-rich developing countries hold their governments accountable for the management of revenues from the oil, gas and mining industries. Caritas is a member of PWYP and also provides funding.
