Moni Marion

Moni Marion is a communications student in his 4th year and he is already working for a local radio. The earthquake hit when he was at his way home from a class. That saved his life. But the house where he used to live is destroyed, like 90 percent of the houses of Léogâne. He has nothing more than what he had taken in the morning when he went to university. He says it feels strange to wait for the help of others and that`s why he has started helping Caritas doing some translations during the distribution. His biggest wish is that the university will reopen and he can get his masters in communications.

Suxe Bienvenue

Mrs. Bienvenue has been sleeping on the street for the last 8 days. She has lost everything and has not eaten or drunk properly. “I am saving the little water that I have and drink a bit before I go to sleep”, she said. With the tarpaulins from Caritas, she will built a shelter together with her son close to the main square. She has no one to go to in another part of the country as they have all spent their whole life in this city.

Marie was hurt while she was running out of her house together with her little son. She escaped without anything. Her arm was treated by MSF, but they had to sleep without shelter or blankets for the last few days. Marie was very concerned about the health of her child as they had to drink the untreated tap water. After explaining to her how to use the aqua-tablets, she feels a lot safer. She will also be able to build a provisory shelter and waits for her husband to come home.

With her little sister, her mum, her two kids and her husband, Etienne is sleeping close to the former bank in the city centre. Their house is completely destroyed and they wouldn´t dare to go into a house as they are afraid of the aftershocks. Today she got blankets, a tarpaulin, a rope, water purification tablets and two water buckets.
