Caritas expresses its best regards and wishes to Fr Louis Samaha, retiring from his position as president of Caritas Lebanon.
Lesley-Anne Knight, Secretary General of Caritas Internationalis, described Fr Samaha as “a great servant to the poor for many years”.
Fr Samaha led the Caritas relief operations during the Israel-Lebanon 2006 conflict, providing aid to many of the people affected.
Following to the election held by the Assembly of the Patriarchs and Bishops in Lebanon in November, he will be replaced by Father Simon Faddoul for a 3-year mandate starting on February, the 16th.
“We wish Father Louis Samaha great success and are calling upon the Lord to accompany him in his new mission and to guide him in all his activities”, said Caritas Lebanon.

La Secrétaire générale de Caritas Internationalis, Lesley-Anne Knight, a qualifié le Père Samaha de « grand serviteur pour les pauvres pendant de nombreuses années ».
Le Père Samaha a été à la t ê des opérations de secours pendant le conflit entre Israël et le Liban en 2006, portant ainsi secours à un grand nombre de personnes touchés.
Simon Faddoul, élu par l’Assemblée des Patriarches et Evêques Catholiques au Liban, prendra la succession de Louis Samaha le 16 février. Il a été élu pour un mandat de trois ans.
« Nous souhaitons au Père Simon Faddoul tout le succès et sollicitons le Seigneur de l’accompagner dans sa nouvelle mission et d’orienter toutes ses activités », a écrit Caritas Liban dans une lettre aux membres du réseau Caritas.
